Why this exists
Every family has a recipe box that only one person can read. This is what happens after that person tells you the recipe from memory, and you finally write it down.
Grandma Ruth's gefilte fish only ever existed on an index card with three water stains and a note in the margin that said "more pepper than this." Recipes like that don't survive a move, a spill, or a generation. A site does — as long as someone keeps adding to it.
The goal here is not a polished cookbook. It's a running record: who made what, what they changed about it over the years, and what they'd tell you if you were standing in their kitchen. Typed recipes sit next to photographed cards. Nothing needs to be perfect before it goes up.
Other families are welcome to do this too
The structure behind this page — categories, search, a card for each recipe, room for the story behind it — isn't specific to one family. If yours wants a version of this for your own recipe box, the setup here is meant to be copied, not guarded.
How a recipe gets added
Two ways in, both fine to mix:
- → Type it up — ingredients, steps, and who it's from — and send it over.
- → Photograph the original card or cookbook page and send the picture, even if it's handwritten or hard to read. It goes up next to a typed-out version.
Submission form
Not live yet on this preview. The plan: a short Google Form (name, category, ingredients, steps, a note, and a photo upload) that anyone in the family can fill out from a phone, feeding straight into the recipe list below.
